DESCRIPTION

Works of Antoni Gaudí — UNESCO World Heritage Site

Brand Identity & Design System

A comprehensive identity system for the UNESCO World Heritage designation covering Antoni Gaudí's seven architectural works in and around Barcelona. The project spans every touchpoint of a functioning institutional brand — from mark and typography to environmental signage, publication, and strategic communications.

The identity is anchored by a geometric mark derived from the structural logic of Gaudí's architecture — specifically the ceiling geometry of the Basílica de la Sagrada Família, drawn from his original sketches. Akzidenz-Grotesk BQ pairs the mark's precision with its historic weight, and the color palette — slate blue, deep navy, gold, and amber — draws from the materiality of Gaudí's ceramic and stone work.

Standout deliverables include a multilingual site sign typeset in seven languages (English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, and Catalan), a fold-out publication covering both the individual sites and the broader World Heritage program, and a series of New Yorker advertisements promoting a traveling exhibition of artifacts and photographs. Strategic proposals centered on a Barcelona-wide tour bus system, a partnership with Barcelona Turisme, and a timely traveling exhibit timed to the Sagrada Família's 2026 completion.
